Basketball England & London Region Basketball are pleased to announce the set-up and staff for the London Region Aspire Programme

To support the first tier of players who meet the Age & Stage requirements detailed in the Player Development Framework, they will receive enhanced coaching and player development. This will transform the current programme for this age group, which comprises delivery of Regional Performance Centres (RPCs) and Regional Development Tournaments (RDTs).

We have introduced better services to support players at this stage of their development, including competition, education, staff and parental resources and training. The club coach role and input will also be enhanced, with feedback and support on coaching practice, training etc., so there is an extension to the development impact.

The decision has also been taken by Basketball England to offer this level of programme to 11-15-year olds (also in line with our Player Development Framework Ages & Stages).

The content of the Aspire Programme will be aligned to the Player Development Framework.

Next Aspire Dates… 2019-20 Season

Please also note no games for any junior age groups can take place on an Aspire Sunday, these dates have been factored into the scheduling of fixtures and are on the following dates:-

  • Aspire 1 Sunday 27th October 2019
  • Aspire 2 Sunday 24th November 2019
  • Aspire 3 Sunday 22nd December 2019
  • Aspire 4 Sunday 5th January 2020
  • Aspire 5 Sunday 23rd February 2020
  • Aspire 6 Sunday 15th March 2020
  • Aspire 7 Sunday 24th May 2020
  • Aspire 8 Sunday 14th June 2020

There will also no fixtures scheduled or to take place on National Cup Final Weekend for seniors and juniors on 1-2nd February 2020.

The Aspire Programme sessions will be hosted at the Regional Talent Hubs within each region. The London Region Talent Hub is still to be decided.
